Kuma Publication: Sarajevo 1992–1996

Sarajevo 1992–1996 is a photography book featuring more than 100 images taken by Italian photojournalist Enrico Dagnino during the siege of Sarajevo. Combining photographs, personal notes, and drawings created during the war, the publication offers a powerful visual testimony of everyday life in the city between 1992 and 1996.

The book also includes bilingual texts (English–Bosnian) by Džemil Hodžić, Nihad Kreševljaković, and Enric Martí. Edited by Claudia Zini and designed by Ideologija, the publication was released by Kuma International in 2023 and launched during the Modul Memorije Festival in Sarajevo.

Sarajevo 1992–1996 is the third publication released by Kuma International, following Unfolding Sarajevo and Unsafe Goražde, continuing Kuma’s broader commitment to exploring post-conflict realities through visual culture, research, and publishing.

More than a historical document, Sarajevo 1992–1996 stands as a testimony to the resilience, dignity, and spirit of Sarajevo and its inhabitants during the siege. Through Dagnino’s lens, the book captures moments of survival, community, resistance, and everyday life amidst violence and destruction, preserving fragile yet powerful memories of the city’s wartime experience.
